Garland Power & Light received the TAMIO Award of Honor for the utility’s 2023 Annual Report from the Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers. This was one of seven awards given to Garland by the association, which recognizes excellence in municipal communications across Texas.

• Award of Honor (third place) Publications, Report: Garland Power & Light annual report

• Award of Honor Video, Special or One Time Program: John Bramblitt Mural in Downtown Garland

• Award of Honor Marketing, Best Plan or Campaign: Downtown Square: A Campaign for Community and Culture

• Award of Honor Crisis Communication Response: City of Garland Responds to Hurricane Force Wind Event

This year, 658 entries from municipalities in Texas were submitted for the 29 categories in this year’s TAMI Awards competition. The state association hosts this annual awards program each year as part of its mission to advance and promote the active cooperation and exchange of information and ideas among Texas cities; to promote the proficiency of public information and communication managers; to render whatever public relations assistance possible to any municipality or organization; and to promote recognition outside the organization for achievement in the area of communicating with the public.
