Transmission Line Project Begins Nov. 25
Construction on a transmission power line running from north to south Garland begins on Nov. 25 and is scheduled for completion by March 31, 2020. Texas Municipal Power Agency (TMPA) owns the line, which is being upgraded to support reliability of the Texas electric grid.
Work on the transmission line begins at Ben Davis Substation north of Firewheel Town Center and proceeds south, generally running along Highway 78, except in the Downtown area where it follows the railroad line. Daytime lane closures will be limited to one lane from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. along Highway 78. Short nighttime lane closures will be needed for the crossings of Highway 78, President George Bush Turnpike and Avenue B.
